Last month was a whirlwind of excitement as we celebrated our 5-year anniversary, but we cannot fail to mention an incredible, local nonprofit we are deeply invested in, Pathways For Children, which recently celebrated their 50th anniversary! In the five years we have been in business, we have dedicated ourselves to nearly 1,500 hours of community service and many of those hours come from volunteering at Pathways. We participated in their 50th anniversary and annual fundraising event and celebration a few months ago. We want to shine a light on their success and why we’re so supportive.
Pathways for Children is the leading provider of education and care programs for children on the North Shore part of Massachusetts. They have year-round programs that serve children from birth to age 13. These educational programs include meals, nutrition assessments, health and developmental screenings, referrals for special education services, family support, enrichment programs, and even transportation when needed. Below is more about their annual Snow Ball gala –a highlight of this past December for us.
Supporting Pathways For Children
Hawkins Point, as a whole, has a commitment to bettering and serving our community. One element of our founders’ start-up plan was to immediately align with a community based, not-for-profit organization. Through family connections to the Gloucester community, Pathways quickly became an excellent candidate.
Our initial research showed that Pathways had a premier and long-standing reputation for their service to children and families of Cape Ann. Our meeting with the leadership convinced us that we wanted to support this group of dedicated education professionals.
We participate with them throughout the year, but their annual fundraiser is always a notable event. This event requires a lot of preparation and it raises much of the funding they need throughout the year, so it’s always a big event and one we are proud to support as a Silver Sponsor.
Hawkins Point continues as a significant donor in support of Pathways efforts to improve our communities and the lives of our citizens financially and with our free time as well. Steve Mersky, President and Co-Founder of Hawkins Point, serves on the Board of Directors as Vice Chair so he dedicates a lot of his time to Pathways for Children and holds a leadership role in this event each year.
The recent fundraiser was a great success. So successful, in fact, that Heather got Steve to dance! Obviously, the event offered an enjoyable time to all who attended along with raising awareness and support.
Even though the gala was in December, you can still donate to help them meet their goal! There is never a cut-off to donating to a nonprofit like this to help them accomplish their mission. They have volunteer opportunities too. We cannot emphasize the importance of this organization enough! We encourage you to consider supporting this deserving cause.
