We have all had diverse experiences working with and working for the leadership of our employer. Some may even feel their experience suggests that certain undesirable human traits are the norm in senior leadership. But we know that the truly most effective leaders do so with the human element at the center of their core value system.
The great leaders that most inspire lead in an authentic, relevant and effective manner. They listen to and learn from everyone with whom they work, regardless of hierarchy. When they reach out, it is not only to get but to give. They are tough but not inherently mean. They make emotional investments that contribute to their team members personal success. When you are the beneficiary of such a leader, then pay that forward.
