This week we read a blog post from a few years ago about coaching. It’s been inspiring us as much today as it did when we first wrote it.
Coaching Lifestyle
The value of a coach or mentor is incalculable. We can probably all point to at least one person who directly impacted who we are, whether personally or professionally. We want to continue to be coached in different areas of our lives because there’s always room to grow. This is a core element of our culture –lifelong learning and development!
We believe we are also meant to pour into someone else, rather than just live for ourselves. This takes place naturally in certain relationships such as parenting or in the field of education. But we also see these opportunities arise professionally. Some of our favorite moments at Hawkins Point have been when we build relationships with businesses full of talented people and come alongside their development. We love to support and challenge them.
To Coach and to Be Coached
Having someone you’re investing in and someone who is investing in you – this is key to an enriched life. As we mentioned before, two of our cultural values reiterate these kinds of relationships. Those commitments are:
- We listen and learn from everyone with whom we work—regardless of hierarchy.
- We seek to build trust and enrich relationships.
If you manage or work with team members, these commitments are important to building a strong community. A refusal to grow or a failure to build relationships leads to standstill. But making a lifestyle out of coaching and learning will always lead to growth.
We’d love for you to check out our blog we mentioned here about coaching. We hope it inspires you, too.
